Spring Term 2010

New Starters
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our 'New starters' We hope you and your families will enjoy the time you spend with us at Crich Pre-school.

Registration
We feel that registration is a learning opportunity for all children. It would be helpful if you would encourage your child to obtain their name from the table outside the pre-school room, and then attach it to the registration/name board when they come in to the playroom. Please encourage your child to sit quietly on the mat to await registration. If you feel that your child needs help from one of the team please feel free to seek one of us out, we are only to happy to help!

Show and tell
Everyone enjoys the novelty of show and tell.

It would be great if the children could bring in a 'show and tell' which relates to the topic we are covering.

It can be a favourite toy or book, whatever your child is happy to show and discuss with his/her peers and us, but not to large that it will not fit in the 'show and tell bag!'

Topic
Our topic this half term is 'Colours'. Please see the notice on the Pre-school door for the colour of the week.

We have been looking at different colours by mixing paints, adding different colours to corn flour and playdough. Checking out different coloured foods, tasting them, and seeing what happens when we add food colourings to our baking!! The children found this really amazing!!

Little Schools Bird Watch.
We are taking part in the little schools bird watch, and will be going out into the garden to do some 'bird watching'. We shall be recording what we have seen and submitting our findings to the RSPB.

The children have been learning about some of our native birds. They have been painting/sticking blue tits, blackbirds and pigeons to name just a few.

Farmhouse breakfast week
Week commencing the 25th Jan is farmhouse breakfast week.....yummy!

We will be talking about what the children like to eat for their breakfast, and what they have, together with what other cultures enjoy for their breakfasts. Please see our weekly menu of breakfast/snacks showing what we shall be eating this week. This is located on the Pre-school door.

Assessments
Your child's assessments are kept in the Pre-School and are always available for you to look at. Please feel free to ask your child's key worker if you would like to see them and/or if you need anything explaining to you about them.

Quiet room
Would parents and children please use the quiet room before Pre-school commences. You will find other parents/carers and children waiting in there also. (It's a great way to get to know people!) There is also information available for you to look at regarding our Pre-school.

If you choose not to use this room, please respect the receptionists working environment and do not allow your child to run around the Glebefield centre.

Thank you. :)

Collections
If someone else is collecting your child at the end of the Pre-School session, please inform a member of the team and we will record it in the collection book. You can if you wish fill in the 'collection book' yourself it is located on the table near the coat pegs.

Absences
Please contact Pre-School if your child is going to be absent due to illness, outings, holidays etc.

Labelling
There are still a few coats and water bottles with no names on them.....please help us, and your child by labelling them. Thank you.

And finally.......
Yes it does seem a long time ago now, but we would like to say a big 'Thank you' to all of you for the Christmas cards and gifts we received from you. We really appreciate it. Thank you.

Tracie, Helen, Joyce, Sadie and Alison.
