Parents as Partners

artwork

At Crich Pre-school we are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers in providing early years care and education for their children.

We recognise that parents are their children's first and most important educators and so we aim to involve parents in their children's time in our preschool, meeting the requirements of Ofsted's Care Standard 12.

Key Methods:
• Through ongoing communication with parents we aim to improve our knowledge of the needs of their children. We welcome discussions on all aspects of their child's care.
• Through our 'key worker' system we provide opportunities for discussions on children's well being and progress.
• We inform parents/carers of how the setting is run, its policies and any changes through regular news letters and our parent information file.
• We invite input and suggestions from parents regarding the preschool's provision of early years education through both discussions with members of the pre-school staff and our parent and carers suggestion box.
• Through parent mornings and frequent informal feedback on children's individual achievements we inform parents and carers about their child's progress. Parents can request access to our information regarding their child's development at any time.
• All children have 'feedback' books allowing two way communication.

This policy was amended and adopted at a meeting held on 4/2/09
